Hopetoun Tea Rooms, Melbourne

Hopetoun Tea Rooms

I was recently in Melbourne for work and decided to stay on for a few extra days with my colleague.

I’m so pleased that we did, as we got a lot of shopping done (HELLO Chapel Street and Zara!), and checked out a few trendy bars, cafes and restaurants over the weekend.

We also, on recommendation from a few people at home, had afternoon tea at the Hopetoun Tea Rooms on Collins Street. It really was an absolute delight – the best quality and service I have had from a cafe in a long time.

While we did have to line up to get a table, it was less than a 20 minute wait and it was really worth it – we hadn’t eaten lunch beforehand, so we well and truly stuffed our faces once we were served!

We each had a perfect cappuccino and shared a portion of scones with the traditional cream and jam, then each chose a dessert from the beautiful cake display – lining up for 20 minutes meant we had a really good chance to select our options! My friend had the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake (pictured below) and I had a luscious Lemon Tart – truly the most amazing lemon tart I have ever tasted (I would love to get my hands on that recipe).

If you are ever in Melbourne and find yourself around Collins Street, I would highly recommend popping into Hopetoun Tea Rooms for some scones, cake and coffee (they also serve breakfast, lunch and High Tea too!).
