Coffee and PR

This popped up in my Facebook newsfeed the other day and as someone working in the industry, I agree with this whole heartedly! I did some research and found this stat came from a US study done in 2011 by Career Builder and Dunkin Donut’s (original article can be found here, from the study here).

Prior to working in the industry, I hardly ever drank coffee. But during my uni days and over various work placements in the industry, I acquired a taste for the ever-so popular liquidy black stuff. And now as a full time worker in the industry, it is safe to say that while I’m not an addict, I do enjoy a rich, creamy and frothy coffee from the local coffee shop or coffee van which stops outside my workplace, on an (almost) daily basis. It’s starting to become quite an expensive habit – one which I may need to curb in the New Year!

Even though this stat is over 2 years old – I’m sure it is still highly relevant, though I would be interested to know if our industry still holds the number 2 spot, or if we have moved up or down the list to number 1!

    • Hi Mark,

      I would have thought Finance would be higher, but its down at number 10, and Law doesn’t even feature in the top 15! But keep in mind the stat is a few years old, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had both creeped up. I personally don’t find coffee or alcohol stimulates creativity, but it (coffee, not alcohol!) certainly helps to wake me up in the morning!
